Halite

(Color: clear or white but can be found blue, purple, pink, yellow and gray.)

Healing: Halite is used in the treatment of lower intestinal tract and colon disorders. Used for amelioration of water retention.

Workings: Halite is used in cleansing spells. It is also good for grounding and centering. Use halite to mark out your Sacred Circle. Use halite when engaging in deep introspection, for example; a Dream Vision. Astrological signs are Cancer and Pisces. It vibrates to the number 1.

Chakra Applications: Use Halite when clearing the Heart Chakra.

Foot Notes: Halite, is better known as rock salt. Halite is found in ancient bedrock all over the world where large extinct salt lakes and seas have evaporated millions of years ago, leaving thick deposits of salt behind.





Hematite:

(Color: silver gray to black in some forms and red to brown in other forms)

"Ancient people believed that large deposits of hematite formed from battles that were fought and the subsequent blood that flowed into the ground."

Luster: metallic or dull in earthy and oolitic forms

Healing: Use hematite to boosts ones self esteem and confidence levels. Hematite also enhances the memory. Use to regulate and strengthen the blood supply. Use hematite to treat circulatory conditions and as a blood cleanser. It is also used to treat anxiety and insomnia. As an elixir, it is used to treat fevers.

Workings: Hematite is an excellent stone for grounding and protection. Also used during Astral projection. Carry hematite when involved in legal situations. Astrological signs are Ares and Aquarius. It vibrates to the number 9.

Chakra Applications: Use Hematite to balance the Heart Chakra.

Foot Notes: Hematite is an important ore of iron. Hematite is a very common mineral and comes in many varieties. It is believed that there was once water on Mars, because of the presence of Hematite.

Healing: Iolite is used to help heal sore throats, fevers and malaria. It is also used in detoxification of both drugs and alcohol. It assists in healing varicose veins.

Workings: Use Iolite when meditating or pursuing a Dream Vision or other forms of psychic connection. Iolite is often called the "Shaman Stone." It is used by shamans as a healing and vision stone. Use for astral projection.

Chakra Applications: Use Iolite to open the 3rd. Eye and Crown Chakras. Iolite is thought to open a channel from the Throat Chakra to the Crown Chakra, thus setting up spiritual communication with the Higher Self.

Foot Notes: Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral cordierite. Iolite is called water sapphire because it looks very much like a blue sapphire. When the vikings went sailing out on the ocean, they used thin pieces of iolite as the world's first polarizing filter. Looking through an iolite lens, they could determine the exact position of the sun, which allowed them to navigate safely.
The major sources of gem grade iolite come from Sri Lanka, India, Madagascar and Burma.






Iron Pyrite:

The name pyrite is from the Greek word "Pyr" meaning "fire".

Healing: Iron Pyrite is useful in uplifting ones emotional state.Iron Pyrite increases blood flow and improves the memory. It stimulates cellular formation and aligns the meridians. Iron pyrite is used in the treatment of asthma and bronchitis.

Workings: Iron Pyrite is an excellent protection stone. Use it to enhance energy shields. Astrological sign is Leo. It vibrates to the number 3.

Chakra Applications: Use Iron Pyrite to balance the Third Eye Chakra.

Foot Notes: Iron Pyrite is the most common of the sulfide minerals. Because of its color it is sometimes called Fool's Gold. Pyrite is used for the production of sulfur dioxide and in the manufacture of sulfuric acid.






Jade:

As early as 3000 B.C.E. jade was known in China as yu, the "royal gem".

Healing: Jade is used as a remedy for kidney ailments and to remove toxins. It helps to heal stitches and is useful in fertility and childbirth. It is sometimes used as an elixir to soothe and smooth the skin.

Workings: Jade is often used to carve sacred artifacts. Place jade under your pillow help in lucid dreaming. The ancient Chinese used Jade for, among other things, courage, wisdom and justice. Jade is used to attract good luck and friendship. It is also a protection stone. Use Jade for astral projections.
Jade is often called the "Dream stone" or the "Stone of Fidelity". To the Mayans it was known as "Sovereign of Harmony."
The energy of Jade is receptive. Its Element is Water and its planet is Venus. Astrological signs are Aries, Gemini, Taurus and Libra. It vibrates to the Master number 11.

Kunzite

Kunzite was named for the author and gemologist George F. Kunz

Healing: Kunzite is used to help heal "broken hearts", and to relieve stress and anger. Kunzite is used to help strengthen the circulatory system, and in the treatment of lung disorders. It is also used to strengthen the heart muscles.

Workings: Carry Kunzite to protect against negative energies. Kunzite enhances one's meditative state. Its astrological signs are Scorpio, Taurus and Leo. It vibrates to the number 7. It's energy is receptive, its
element is Earth and its Planets are Venus and Pluto.

Chakra Applications: Use Kunzite to activate and align the Heart chakra with the Throat and Third Eye chakra. Use it to align all of the major Chakras.

Foot Notes: Kunzite is a pink gem variety of Spodumene.








Lapis Lazuli:

Said to be Sacred to the Goddess Isis. Known by the ancient Egyptians as "The Stone of Heaven''.
From the word lapis“, the Latin word for stone, and the Arabian word "azul", denoting the colour blue.
Lapis lazuli was one of the stones in the 'Breastplate of Judgement' of Aaron, described in the Christian Bible (Exodus: xxviii, 15-30).

Healing: Lapis Lazuli provides mental clarity and objectivity. It is used to relieve insomnia and to rid one of anxieties. Lapis Lazuli is used to reduce fevers, purify the blood and boost the immune system. It is used to cure gallstones and to improve the eyesight. Lapis Lazuli is used in bone marrow disorders and to heal disorders of the throat.

Workings: Use Lapis Lazuli to protect against psychic attack and for personal protection. It is an excellent stone to use during meditation. Wear to promote fidelity in your marriage. Use in energy works of healing, love and joy. Lapis lazuli is considered a stone of truth and friendship. Foot Notes: Lapis Lazuli is a mixture consisting of lazurite, silica, aluminum, calcite and pyrite. Lapis Lazuli is a rock and not a mineral because it is made up from various other minerals. Lapis lazuli usually occurs in crystalline limestones as a result of contact metamorphism. It yields H2S gas (smells of rotten eggs) when subjected to HCl.




Lazulite:

(Color: dark azure-blue to a bright indigo blue)

Healing: Lazulite is used for treating disorders of the thyroid, lymph glands, pituitary and the liver. Lazulite is used to overcome compulsive behavior patterns.

Workings: Lazulite is often used as a "worry" stone. It is an excellent grounding stone and is used for meditation. Astrological signs are Sagittarius and Gemini. It vibrates to the number7.

Chakra Applications: Use Lazulite to balance the Brow Chakra.

Foot Notes: Lazulite is a blue, phosphate-based mineral containing magnesium, iron, and aluminium phosphate. Its name comes from the arabic for heaven.





Lepidolite:


from the Greek [lepidos], meaning 'scale', in allusion to the scaly aggregates in which the mineral commonly occurs.


(Color: violet to pale pink or white and rarely gray or yellow)

Healing: Use Lepidolite to reduce stress. Use it to stabilize Bipolar disorders. Also useful when suffering from addictions. Lepidolite is used to strengthen the immune system and as a detoxifier. It is a good stone to carry during menopause. Also used to relieve joint complaints.

Workings: Use Lepidolite to dispel negative energies. Keep in the home to promote happiness and joy. Known as the "Dream Stone", it is used to protect one from nightmares. An excellent stone to carry when attending to business matters.

Foot Notes: Lepidolite is an uncommon mica. Lepidolite is confined to granite pegmatites, where it occurs either as fine-granular masses near the core of the pegmatite or as stubby or tabular crystals in cavities.




Magnetite:

Known as the "Stone of Stability"

Healing: Malachite is known as a powerful healing stone. Use it to relieve stress and depression. It is also used in cases of rheumatism, asthma, Parkinson's, MS, cholera, as well as some heart problems. Malachite is used for deep emotional healing. Malachite is useful for treating cramps such as menstrual cramps and is used to faciliate child birth. It is also used to lower ones blood pressure.

Workings: Malachite is used for money and love spells. Also for grounding and centering. Use it to absorb negative energies. Use malachite to enhance ones psychic abilities. Moonstone is used in healing ailments of the stomach and lymph glands, aids with female problems and helps to relieve stress. It is used to ease pregnancy and childbirth. It is also used in the treatment of circulatory disorders.

Workings: Use moonstone to strengthen intuition and psychic perception and to bring a connection of balance and harmony with Spirit. In India, Moonstone is known as a “dream stone”, as it is supposed to bring about clear and beautiful dreams. During the waning of the moon the stone aids in prophesy. It is also known as a stone of fertility. It is said to have the power to grant dreams. Wear Moonstone for protection while traveling on water. Use Moonstone as a talisman of Good Fortune.
